On the exhibit floor we have built a classroom that will feature specialty sessions at BEA2011. Take a peek at the sessions that will take place Monday Aprill 11th.

11:45 AM – 1:00 PM Location Multi-track Recording for Film and Episodic Television

The current trend in Hollywood is to utilize portable, multi-track recorders capable of 8-12 channels of audio, in order to record location dialogue on feature motion pictures, episodic television, and commercials. Professor Ginsburg (a member of the Cinema Audio Society and BKSTS) will discuss a typical workflow, examining the interface of mixing panels to recorder, channel assignments, iso versus mixdown, and microphone selection and deployment. The presentation will include a discussion of Hollywood microphone techniques, such as overhead booms, plant mics, and lavaliers — and how these elements are integrated into a multi-track recording.
Presenter: Fred Ginsburg, CAS PhD MBKS

BEA 2011 Research Symposium

BEA2011 Research Symposium | Thursday, April 10-11, 2011 | Las Vegas

Media and Morality:
Investigating the Connections

Please accept this special invitation to attend the BEA Research Symposium at our up-coming Conference, next month.

Our Symposium Chair is Ron Tamborini, Michigan State. The topic is, “Media and Morality.”

The leading researchers from across the nation will be examining the relationship between media and morality has been a lasting concern among broadcast scholars and practitioners. Does morality play a part in how audience members select, interpret and respond to media content. Can media alter moral values? The challenge to answering such questions is enhanced by the complex nature of morality itself. This symposium joins leading scholars in efforts to clarify both simple and complex processes that shape the reciprocal influences that connect media and morality. Invited panels, competitive papers, and a keynote address will set the course for future understanding of these connections.
